Hummingbird's language processing system fell into the newly recognized category of "conversational search," which paid more attention to each word in a query to better match pages to the meaning of the query, rather than focusing on just a few words. Regarding SEO changes, for content publishers and authors, Hummingbird was designed to solve problems by getting rid of irrelevant content and spam, allowing Google to produce high-quality content and rely on them as "trusted" authors.
