Three-month study applicant visa, which is valid if you have not yet been admitted to university. After admission, this must be converted to a resident permit for student purposes as soon as possible.
Visa for study purposes, which is valid for one year. To obtain this visa, you must provide proof of admission and financial support for the period of study.
All visa applications are submitted to the German Embassy or German Consulate in your country of residence as soon as possible.
There was previously no information on tuition fees in Germany, but recently fees have been introduced for long-term students, guest students, postgraduates and postgraduate students. From the winter semester 2006/2007, the fees are around 500 euros per semester.
Fees for long-term students: Some universities charge around €500 per semester to students whose studies last three to four semesters longer than the standard time to obtain a degree.
Fees for a second degree: Students who take a second degree course or study for more than a certain number of semesters (1.5 times the standard time to obtain a degree) have to pay around €500 - €650 per semester.
Postgraduate programmes: Most postgraduate programmes have fees. Tuition fees can range from €650 per semester to several thousand euros.
