Moustapha Ben Barka, Vice President of BOAD, and Steven BEDI, President of the Côte d'Ivoire Innovation 20 (Ci20) association, signed a framework cooperation agreement in the presence of Amadou Coulibaly, Minister of the Digital Economy of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. Under the terms of this agreement, the Bank and the Ci20 association undertake to cooperate on all actions or projects in the field of digital transformation in the States where either Party is active.
In a comprehensive manner, this cooperation will focus on (i) the implementation of projects and programs for the development and list of mobile number database of the digital economy sector in general; (ii) the co-construction of innovative financial vehicles for the benefit of Startups and technology companies in Member States; (iii) institutional and technical support for programs and opportunities that create value, income and youth employment, proposed by the Ci20; (iv) the co-construction of business clusters with a strong social and environmental impact.
Ci20 aims to promote the digital economy, tech and digital technology as levers for creating youth jobs; to promote national champions, Ivorian startups and WAEMU; and finally, to increase the share of the digital economy in Côte d'Ivoire's GDP, making it a pilot for the region.
This general framework for cooperation reflects the convergence of missions between the two parties and the existence of points of synergy, providing greater scope and impact to their actions in favor of the populations of the UEMOA zone.
