10 exciting years

Post by jrineakter01 »

I often say jokingly that I became a geek in 2009. By then I had already been working in digital marketing for 10 years, but I really had no idea what the Internet really represented.

I attended an IAB course where they talked about things I had heard about. That's when I started to realize that I was missing out on an important part of the digital world.

The first step was signing up for Twitter (March 2009). I was already on other social networks, but Twitter back then was wild. Everything was new (even though I had been online for a while), and I was hooked.

Just arrived on Twitter. This is starting indonesia whatsapp number list to get complicated: Twitter + Facebook + Linkedin + Xing!! How do you organize yourselves?

Launch of the digital marketing blog
The blog all started on the night of April 25-26, 2009. I had been mulling over the idea of creating it for a few weeks, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

That night I couldn’t sleep and decided to research how to create a blog. I had no idea how to do it. But after a lot of struggling with the platform and writing, in the morning I already had the blog created and my first article written: “ Let’s create together “The 2.0 Library of Online Marketing ”.

As a testimony I leave you the screenshot that I took from archive.org (Oh my God!!)

At that time I was the online marketing director of Sogecable (now Movistar TV), and my intention with this article was to create a library with the best books recommended by the best experts in each area to teach my colleagues what digital marketing really was.

The idea ended up becoming a reading club that several people set up. On June 1, 2009, the first edition of “ The Monday Reading Club ” was held . A reading club focused on online marketing, which ended up being held in 11 Spanish cities.

From here on, a lot of changes happened. All these things made me think, and I decided that it was time to get to know the digital world in all its extension. So I left my job on the client side and went to an agency.

Since then, wonderful things have not stopped happening to me . I have worked for an American marketing consultancy that has allowed me to work in Europe and Latin America, I have created several companies (Kschool, El Arte de Medir and Matridiana ), written several books , given lectures in many countries, taught classes at various business schools , created my own online courses ... it has been 10 years in which I have not stopped working.

The best time to start is now
When people ask me for advice on how to get started in digital marketing or how to relaunch a professional career, my advice is usually to create your own blog.

Think about the professional you want to be, and write with that focus. You will learn a lot about your profession, you will experience first-hand the creation of content, SEO, social networks, measurement... there is no better school than experiencing things first-hand.
